Join us March 16 from 7 to 10 pm.
Digital Modeling and Fabrication is a process that combines computer modeling and additive/subtractive manufacturing. In an effort to maintain our firm’s relevance in the industry, a group of Retail Design Collaborative and Studio One Eleven staff have been collaborating on ways to explore the intersection of art, architecture, computer-aided manufacturing, and fabrication.
As the construction industry begins to automate and buildings become more reliant on computer-driven manufacturing and fabrication, it is vital that we understand the technology and adapt our practice accordingly. This light fixture design challenge is a way to introduce our staff to these technologies in a fun and engaging way. We felt that a light fixture would be a great platform for this challenge since it combines structure, form and light. It is also a practical object that can be used every day.
We hope that you join us in collaboration with OCC Makerspace, Woodbury University, RyanMennealy Ceramics, and Theia Lighting Design in seeing the ILLUMINATING CONCEPTS that talented designers of RDC-S111 have created.
Reception and winner announcements will be presented, shared and celebrated at gallery space co-hosted at MADE by Millworks.
This is a rare peek into the world of design and architecture that goes on within our community.
We look forward to seeing you there!
