"Long Beach to me is a city of its size like no other. Its diversity is far and away the most popular response when people are asked what they like about it and that is why I think Humans Of Long Beach has held my attention for so long, because every time I saddle up and set off into the sunshine I know I am going to have meetings with interesting, multiracial people from both ends of the socio-economic spectrum and all points in between.”
Since December 18, 2012,"I've met and photographed literally thousands of Long Beach humans, a number of whom I now regard as friends and I have heard tales that would make you laugh and cry in equal measure. When people started suggesting to me I should do a book I didn't really consider it in any seriousness but now, almost six years and a lot of soul searching later I'm delighted to say I finally took their advice.
I've had a wonderful time meeting and photographing the Humans Of Long Beach and choosing the pictures and stories for this book. I hope you have as much fun reading it as I did compiling it.", Matt Roberts - July 2018
