Pin Tiki
by Pin Tiki
Wan-Q opened as a no-frills Chinese restaurant, but as the first wave of the Polynesian pop explosion hit, they went Tiki in a big way. Inspired by Donn Beach, owner Benny Eng added bamboo, rattan, Tikis and waterfalls to make the décor as spectacular as the food. Of course they also had a full menu of tropical cocktails like the Mai Tai, Pi-Yi, Rum Swizzle and Zombie. Wan-Q became one of LA’s best Chinese/Polynesian restaurants and included several dishes made famous by Don The Beachcomber – like rumaki.
